Persons taking measurements:
It is best if one person
measures and another writes.
Please give measurements
in inches, NOT S,M,L,XL
Be sure to start with the
correct end of the tape measure.
Don't pull the tape measure
tight. If it's cutting in, it's too tight.
Be real. Measure the body,
not the clothes.
Write in Pen. Black or Blue
ink.
Write Clearly. We have to
be able to read it.
The Measurements:
Height: Weight:
How tall are you? How much do you weigh? We need these
measurement to get the overall body shape. If you don't know the weight,
leave it blank.
Suit/Dress Size:
What size suit/dress do you wear? If the person being
measured doesn't know their size leave it blank.
Chest/Bust:
Measure around the fullest part of the chest/bust. Have
the person being measured take a deep breath.
Waist:
Measure around the natural waist. Male: Belly Button.
Female: Smallest part of the waist. We do mean the waist, not where the
person is wearing their pants. It may be helpful to pin a ribbon around
the natural waist.
Hip:
Measure around the fullest part of the hip. Please remove
all keys, cell phones, wallets, etc.
Waist to Floor:
Measure natural waist to floor. Again from the waist,
not where their pants are. Remember wear your show shoes for measurements.
If you do not have your show shoes be bare foot.
Out Seam:
Measure from waist to desired hem length. Do they have
the correct shoes on?
Out Seam can not be longer than Waist to Floor.
In Seam:
Measure from crotch to desired hem length. Pull pants
all the way up.
Think about this: In Seam cannot be longer than Out Seam.
Neck:
Measure around base of neck.
Sleeve Length:
With elbow slightly bent, measure from center back neck,
along shoulder, down arm to wrist.
Shoulder to Shoulder:
Measure shoulder point to shoulder point, across back.
The shoulder point is the bone you can feel at the top of the arm. Don't
measure the shirt.
Hat:
Measure around the circumference of the head above the
ears.
In Sleeve:
Measure underarm to wrist.
Out Sleeve:
Measure shoulder point to wrist.
Underarm to Waist:
Measure from armpit to waist. NOTE: that's WAIST, not
WRIST. Underarm to wrist is the 'In Sleeve'.
Thigh:
Measure around the fullest part of the thigh. Especially
for athletic builds.
Biceps:
Measure around the fullest part of the biceps. Ask the
person being measured to 'Make a Muscle'. Especially for athletic builds.
What about Padding? Fat
padding, Pregnancy padding, Hump, etc.
Padding can be used for a number of reasons:
