1776
must have been an exciting
time to witness the birth of America. Outraged by the injustices
of the British Empire, the thirteen colonies declared their
independence. Some of America's greatest men carved a place for
themselves
in history by their actions. George Washington, Benjamin Franklin,
and Thomas Jefferson walked the streets of Philadelphia. Ordinary men
rose to perform extraordinary tasks. Starving and tired, American
soldiers marched against a better equipped force and won. The American
Revolution attracted support from all levels of society, from wealthy
Southern
land owners to small town Northern blacksmiths. Many images have come
to be associated
with this time from the roughly dressed
Paul Revere to the dazzling uniforms of the British Army.
